Repairs and Maintenance
The Music Workshop Ltd started as an idea to open a shop to cater for
orchestral musicians in Dunedin. David had spent three years training as
an Orchestral Instrument Technician at Stevenson College in Edinburgh,
qualifying with a Higher National Diploma in Orchestral Instrument
Technology. As well as this his experience of teaching as an itinerant in
North Island schools reinforced his realisation that students need well
set up instruments in order to achieve.
Set Up
In order for a student to achieve the best on their instrument it should be set up for the best possible sound and response. Playing on an instrument that is not properly set up can slow a student's progress or make them lose enthusiasm for learning.
Our aim is to make sure that all students can achieve to their greatest potential and a well set up instrument is a step in the right direction.
For the seasoned player, the set up of the instrument is crucial. Small adjustments can make great differences in tone and control. At The Music Workshop Ltd, we are happy to work with you to get the best out of your instrument.
Maintenance
Once your instrument is set up properly and all that regular practice is taking place, your instrument will need to be maintained. Just like a car, an annual check over is a great way to make sure your instrument stays in the best playing condition. Regular maintenance can help to avoid costly repairs in the long term.
Repairs
Accidents do happen. If your mouthpiece gets stuck, if your bridge snaps in half, if you bend a key - don't panic. Bring it in to The Music Workshop.
