For the past couple of years our customers have been asking us why we don't stock CDs at The Music Workshop. Well, we thought about it and couldn't come up with a good answer, so from next week, we will have a selection of Classical, Jazz, World and Musicals on CD available in store with the facility to sample more from the Naxos range and order whatever appeals.

The Music Workshop now has thousands of dollars - that's hundreds of books! - of sheet music here in the shop. Thanks to The Print Music Shop, the biggest sheet music retailer in New Zealand, we now have a shop within a shop. Drop in and browse an incredible range of sheet music - from beginner piano books to Metallica and Queen guitar transcriptions with just about anything you can imagine in between.

Favourites include exam music for your piano, flute, guitar, clarinet.... How about a sing-along book and cd of High School Musical! We even have the music from the film Twilight.

Sibelius Available at The Music Workshop Ltd!

Fantastic News! Sibelius, the industry's standard in composition software, is now available at The Music Workshop Ltd.

Thanks to the team at Computer Music Ltd in Helensville for making this possible. We are now able to supply Sibelius and other great software such as Groovy Music and O-Generator. Student ID will get you the student price - Sibelius 5 for only $550.

We now have copies of Sibelius 5, Groovy Music (for 5 to 11 year olds) and O-Generator (10 to 16 year olds) and will be loading up the computer ready to show you what can be done with these - our resident school-aged musician (Mhairi) will be in charge of testing the various versions of Groovy and O-Generator - and Sara will be trying out Sibelius 5 as soon as it is loaded!

Come in to the shop to try out the software - keep checking this site to see when we have it all up and running - or borrow a demo disk for a trial of Sibelius 5.

Ludwig Drumkits Back in Stock

After a long wait, our favourite Ludwig drum kits are back in stock at The Music Workshop Ltd.

We have two beautiful models - the 125 which is a good quality entry level kit - 5 piece with sturdy double braced hardware and a throne all for $895; and the 225 - again a 5 piece kit with non-intrusive floating tom-toms and superior hardware. The 225 retails at $1195. As always there is a choice of colours available.

For the little ones there is the new Verve 5 piece kit - junior sized and just perfect for the 3 to 8 year olds. We have 3 of these availble for $499 each. A full 5-piece kit with cymbals, hardware and throne and even a child-sized set of sticks. Just what every young rocker needs to get started!

New Stentor Bass for Skybus

Rosa Cameron from local band Skybus got a big surprise when presented with a new Stentor Double Bass.

About 90 people turned up to contribute towards Rosa's new bass and enjoyed a great concert from Skybus before the new bass was brought out.

Needless to say it was a very big surprise in both senses of the word!
